The cheerful group of 16 from the “London European Club” hiked the Mediterranean area of Montenegro in April 2016. This is the song about it, written by Rees Watson:

A week in Montenegro
What a country! What a find!
Spectacular mountain scenery
Enough to blow the mind!

So many different opinions
Of which view meant the most
A spectacular mountain panorama
Or vista of the coast?

The view from Peter II mausoleum
Was my jewel in that feast
I won’t ever forget it
Until my heart has ceased

A motley band of travelers
British in the main
But also folk from Poland
Italia, France & Spain

An action patched itinerary
From the moment we arrived
I am not quite sure exatly
Just how my legs survived

Upward, ever upward
Exploring mountain peaks
Then dawn an unmade footpaths
The aches to last for weeks!

What else will I remember
As the sands of time will pass?
Floating down a lake
With the water still as glass

Taking in the culture
Informed by local guides
And the expertise of Vlatko
Relayed with passion and pride

Good food and plenty of it
Inexpensive beer and wine
Ruzica’s knowing look
I’ll remember for all time

There would be a few minuses
To set against the pluses
Barking dogs at 05.00 am
Unreliable buses

Dilapidated buildings
Not a healthy cat insight
Bugs lurking in one hotel’s rooms
To attack you in the night

But hey! It’s a hiking holliday
And we ride the smooth and rough
The people and the scenery
More than compensate enough

Whatever came up, our noble guides
Fielded without fuss
Listened, planned and organized
And did their level best for us.

It’s been a real privilege
To get to know this place
I just need to think of it
For a smile to cross my face

We are back in “cold and rainy” Belgium, but we have nice, great and unforgettable memories of your beautifull Montenegro: its clean and pure nature, lovely people, rich culture, good food, local black wine and (not to forget) rakia…

Martin did a very good guiding job, was immediately accepted by and integrated in the group. He had a good contact with all of us and was very communicatif and open for any feedback. As he will remember his “first group”, we will remember him as a correct and professional guide.

Also Endritt in Tirana was a very good and helpfull guide. We did a nice short hike and we appreciated the evening city tour and good dinner in a local restaurant.

Don’t forget to say thanks to our kind-hearted and calm driver Peiro, who brought us by difficult paths to the most beautifull spots!

Thanks to you Vlatko (and your team) for the unforgettable first guiding week, the professional preparation and realisation of our 11 days hiking tour in Montenegro and for being our nice and sympathic host.

We will advise Zalaz to any friends that will go to Montenegro and I ‘ll follow your nice site on internet.

Hoping to see you again

Crna Gora, nema druge!

From an email that Jacinto Carneiro from Spain sent after hiking with us:

It is already a few days since I wanted to find a moment to write you a few lines and thank you so much once again for the wonderful time we had in Montenegro. It was an amaizing experience for all of us. One of those that for sure, we will not forget during our lives.

In fact I have already started a new job as a commercilist for Montenegrian Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs. I am showing all pictures, and to my friends and the friends of my friends telling them about the wonderful sites we have visited and convincing them that they should discover this hiden jewell in the old Europe.

Of course, I do also tell them that if they are good, very very good friends, and they treat me well, I can put them in touch with the best guide in the Balcans!! Please do also thank Igor, Sasha, Cristina, Isabel, Wolf, Miliko (how is it writen by the way?), and all others. They have all made our travel a very special one. When you go on holidays, you often expect to relax, enjoy and have a great time, but come back with a full hand of friends is much much more that what anyone can expect. For the last you are of course on the very very top of the list. So thanks once again my friend!!
